We’re about to change – want to help?

HERE at the Spalding Guardian and Lincolnshire Free Press we are constantly striving to come up with ideas to improve our publications.

It’s not easy to persuade people to buy two newspapers on set times during the week in these days of 24/7 news on Twitter, Facebook and media websites – which is why we have to try to stay at the top of our game.

We want you to buy the papers because you’re keen to read our news stories, features and sport – not just because it’s a habit you’ve inherited from your older family members.

With that in mind we’re looking at redesigning and relaunching the Guardian and Free Press next month and making major changes to our website www.spaldingtoday.co.uk later in the year – and I’d appreciate your help in getting it right.

Since taking over as editor in Spalding 18 months ago, I’ve chatted to quite a lot of you about what you like and don’t like about the papers, and I’ve tried to take your suggestions on board.

We’ve also got some ideas for new features and have some very eye-pleasing designs on the drawing board, but now it is YOUR chance to tell us what you want.

Is there anything you’d like us to introduce to the papers, something you don’t like or something we’re currently doing that you think we can improve on?

These are your papers and we want you to continue to buy them and enjoy them.

The march of technology has swallowed up many local newspapers during the new millennium and so I genuinely think we are all lucky to have two local publications alongside a thriving website.

I am delighted that spaldingtoday.co.uk enjoys over 300,000 hits every month, but I am equally pleased that around 110,000 copies of our papers are sold during that period too.

Help us to make both even better by sending in your ideas to me at jeremy.ransome@jpress.co.uk
