A WOMAN stood in the doorway of a Holbeach kebab shop as she tried to stop police arresting her ex-partner and others who were fighting on the floor inside – and ended up being the only one
arrested,

Marie Stace, prosecuting, said the incident took place in a High Street kebab shop at 11.25pm on July 20.

Police were called and could see what appeared to be a group of men fighting on the floor.

But Claire Pardy, who was drunk at the time, stood in the doorway and told policewoman Claire Riches she was not “effing well going in there”.

Pardy (34), of Portland Avenue, Peterborough, was fined £35 for being drunk and disorderly and £65 for obstructing a police officer. She must also pay £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.

At Thursday’s hearing in Spalding, presiding magistrate Jo Sunner told Pardy: “This incident occurred in a public place and it was disgraceful behaviour on your part on that particular day.”

Solicitor Jeremy Roberts, mitigating, said Pardy was trying to prevent her ex-partner from getting arrested – but Pardy herself was the only one arrested.

He said: “She did shout and swear.

“She didn’t wish to harm the police officer.”
