STUDENTS from the area’s secondary schools have been celebrating outstanding A Level results today.

More than half of the results acheived at The Deepings School were A*-B grades – with an overall 99 per cent pass rate achieved.

Hedateacher Chris Beckett said the results had “exceeded all expectations”.

At Spalding Grammar School headteacher Nigel Ryan compared the successes of his students with those of the GB Team at the recent London 2012 Olympics, saying they were now in a strong position to go and make their mark in the wider world.

Overall the school’s results were better than last year, with star pupil being Peter Sibley, of Long Sutton, with A* in Latin and Maths and As in Economics and German.

He will now study Law at Cambridge.

Spalding High School also enjoyed an almost perfect pass rate in the 143 exams taken by its 116 A Level students – with around 60 per cent being A or B grades.

Headteacher Tim Clark said students had all received places at their first choice universities.

At Bourne Academy, staff and students are celebrating a great start to academy status, which it took last September, with an improvement in results on the previous year.
