POLICE arrested a driver because he was travelling too slowly and found he was nearly three times the drink drive limit.
Kaspars Lagis (36), of Sir Peter Scott Road, Sutton Bridge, was stopped in High Street, Moulton, at 2.55am on July 21.
Marie Stace, prosecuting, said Lagis failed a roadside breath test and a test at the police station showed he had 96 microgrammes of alcohol in breath. The legal limit is 35mcgs.
Solicitor Daven Naghen, mitigating, said Lagis had been to a party at a friend’s house but left whhen someone there started to become abusive.
He was looking for somewhere to pull in to sleep of the effects of the drink when police stopped him.
Magistrates heard Lagis was unsuitable for an unpaid work order because he already works long hours and was prepared to pay a higher than usual fine.
Lagis was fined £750 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge at a hearing on Thursday at Spalding Magistrates’ Court.
He was banned from driving for 24 months.
Lagis pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.
