A SPALDING digital company has been awarded funding from a charitable trust to help social housing tenants.
Kind of Digital, an online innovation agency based at the Red Lion Quarter, has been given cash by The Nominet Trust to develop its new OurHousing business, which will encourage interaction between landlords and their tenants to improve services and enhance community spirit.
The ourhousing.org website allows those living in homes rented from housing associations for example to sign in and leave feedback about their landlords, where their concerns can be discussed publically and landlords can respond officially.
The project is the brainchild of Kind of Digital’s Dave Briggs and co-director Fraser Henderson, who have been working on it “under the radar” for almost a year after being impressed by websites such as PatientOpinion and My Police, which allow users to comment on services.
Dave said: “We’ve a long way to go but with the funding we have attracted, the people on the team and our own enthusiasm and motivation, we feel we’ve got a product that can make a real difference to people’s lives.”
The fledgling business also has the backing of London-based Thames Valley Housing, which has offered financial support and advice on the social housing policy and relevant policy.
