A FIRE started in a field of corn near Crowland after a combine harvester collided with overhead power cables.
The blaze took hold about 1.30pm on Tuesday at Avenue Farm in Daniel’s Drove.
Firefighters from Crowland and Holbeach were sent to the fire and used one hose reel jet and four beaters to put out the flames.
About one hectare of corn was severely damaged by the blaze before firefighters were able to get it under control.
A spokeswoman for the fire service said: “The cause is believed to be a combined harvester which collided with electricity cables which ignited the corn.”
