A woman with a long history of heroin abuse stole from shops to pay off drug debts.
Anna Burnett (31), of Marshland Drive, Holbeach, was caught by police when the manager of Spalding’s WH Smith called out to an officer on cycle patrol.
As well as having stolen stationery in her bag on August 11, Burnett had jewellery worth £375.86 belonging to Store 21.
Marie Stace, prosecuting, said Burnett had also entered QD Store at Holbeach on August 8 and walked out with pairs of curtains under each arm.
A member of staff called out to her and Burnett dropped the curtains.
Burnett pleaded guilty to theft of the jewellery and curtains worth £67.97 at a previous hearing and asked for other thefts to be taken into account when sentenced.
Magistrates heard on Thursday that all of the items were recovered.
Burnett was sentenced to 12 months supervision and a six-month drug rehabilitation order.
Presiding magistrate Susan Painter said: “We make this order because we think it is the best way to address your offending behaviour and perhaps get you drug free.”
Solicitor Beris Brickles said Burnett was associating with a man at the time and had built up drug debts. The man was now out of the picture.
