A successful youth club is desperately seeking somewhere new to meet so it does not have to close for three months while its current home is refurbished.
Whaplode Youth Club is run solely by volunteers who came together to give youngsters aged between six and 16 somewhere to go and something to do every other Friday night.
The club has since gone from strength to strength, with about 40 children of all ages regularly going along to the two sessions, but club leader Nicky Harrell fears all the good work will be undone from January when the village hall closes for a makeover.
She said: “Three months is a long time to have to stop for.
“Our members love the youth club, it’s really good and we have got lots of things for them to do, so it would be a real shame if we had to stop.
“At the moment coming to youth club has become a habit for these youngsters. It has made a world of difference to some of them, enabling them to make new friends and giving them somewhere to go.
“We don’t want to have to stop while the hall is closed but we have looked around and so far haven’t been able to find an alternative.”
Mrs Harrell is hoping someone might have a suggestion for where the youth club could meet for a few months.
Currently the club holds two sessions, one for six to ten-year-olds and a second for 11 to 16-year-olds, every other Friday night.
Activities include board games, table football, pool, table tennis, Wii and Xbox games and outdoor activities.
Mrs Harrell added: “Ideally we would like to be able to hold sessions every week, but fortnightly is better than nothing.
