A baby seal rescued by a Spalding dog-walker is to be released back into the wild.
It was feared the pup would not survive after she was plucked from the rocks on the shore of The Wash near Holbeach St Matthews by Mark Allsopp (40), of Medlock Crescent.
He saw the pup in distress while walking his dog and moved her to nearby sand, but when he returned five days later he spotted it was still there and decided to take it home in a bid to save its life.
He placed the pup in the bath and tried to feed it tinned salmon before calling the experts at Hunstanton Sea Life Centre.
Now fully recovered thanks to the loving care she has received since her rescue in June, Jessi-Jane will now be released with three others from the beach at Snettisham – watched by her namesake Paralympic gold medal swimmer Jessica-Jane Applegate.
