A drunken man lashed out and smashed two windows at a Spalding pub after he was barred from entry by door staff.

Lewis Parnham (19) was arrested with blood on his arms outside The Punchbowl in New Road after smashing its front door and main windows in the early hour of October 6.

Parnham, of no fixed address, was given a 12-month conditional discharge by Spalding magistrates last Thursday (Oct 25) after admitting criminal damage.

Edward Johnson, prosecuting, said Parnham admitted to police that he had smashed the windows, causing about £110 worth of damage, after arguing with door staff over not being allowed into the pub.

Dav Naghen, mitigating, said Parnham lost his temper and smashed the windows after he was pushed to the floor by door staff, banging his head on a car.

“Mr Parnham doesn’t feel he was particularly well-treated by the door staff, but his response was perhaps inappropriate,” Mr Naghen said.

“He has taken this matter very seriously and knows that being drunk was a factor, so he hasn’t drank since.

“Mr Parnham is also hoping to find a place to stay outside the Spalding area as the town isn’t a good environment for him.”

Parnham was ordered to pay £60 costs and £15 victim surcharge.
