Grasmere Farm’s traditional butcher’s shop in Market Deeping will be celebrating National Sausage Week in style having just scooped six gold awards for its sausages at the biennual Lincolnshire Poacher Food competition.
Stuart Stables, of Deeping St James-based Grasmere Farm, said: “To have won so many gold awards and to also have the Champion Speciality Sausage speaks volumes for the quality of our whole range of sausages.
“It is great for the team to get such recognition for all their dedication and hard work and we will be sharing this success with our customers during National Sausage Week, which runs from November 5 to 11.”
Grasmere’s awards included Lincolnshire sausage (gold), speciality sausage (four golds and a silver), gluten free speciality sausage (gold), haslet (bronze), burger (gold and silver), Lincolnshire sausage roll (bronze) and bacon (gold).
Other South Lincolnshire winners included Bennett’s Butchers, W Hargrave and Son, George Adams and Son Retail Ltd, Trevor Sharpe Butchers, Jacksons Butchers, Lincolnshire Co-operative and A W Curtis Ltd.
The Lincolnshire Poacher Competition is organised by Lincolnshire County Foods and is one of the premier regional food events for butchers and bakers.
It promotes individuals as well as emphasising the county as the country’s most important food-producing area.
