A MAN of 50 struggled continually with police after he was arrested and handcuffed following a domestic dispute, magistrates heard.
John Pullen, of Porthouse Drive, Pinchbeck, complained the handcuffs were too tight and struggled with officers until they got to Boston’s Pilgrim Hospital, where he was checked over for a medical condition.
John Mitchell, prosecuting, said once in A&E, Pullen again complained about the handcuffs and an officer released one to adjust it.
But Pullen began to struggle again and had to be taken to the ground.
As he was being taken out of the hospital, Pullen wrapped one of his legs around the leg of a woman officer, causing them both to stumble into one of the hospital trolleys.
Pullen admitted resisting police on December 14 and was fined £65 with £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
Rebecca Stevens, mitigating, said Pullen and his partner had a “noisy argument” and it was assumed neighbours called police.
Pullen was happy to follow a police suggestion that he should leave the home to avoid a breach of the peace but then his partner made an unfounded allegation and he was arrested.
Miss Stevens told the court: “He does have injuries as a result of the way handcuffs were applied on that occasion and he does have an injury to his ribs.”
