Plans for 12-14 affordable homes in Pinchbeck are a step closer now the parish council has agreed to sell part of a field.

Pinchbeck Community Land Trust Steering Group was offered several sites in East and West Pinchbeck, but all were ruled out by planning and highways officers.

Steering group chairman Steve Colby told the parish council: “Members of the steering group were disappointed and a little surprised that the parish council did not offer any land on the Flaxmill Field – land that had already been the subject of fairly extensive research over the feasibility of using some of it for affordable housing with access via Grove Close.”

He said planning and highways officials agreed the field was the “logical place to build and infill with housing”.

The council decided on Monday that one-and-a-quarter acres of Flaxmill Field should be sold to the trust with the aim of realising £10,000 per plot.

Mr Colby said: “That’s the top end of anything we could afford.”

Coun Maurice Chappell said development must not hinder other uses of the field and Coun Lynne Andrew said steps should be taken to protect residents of Grove Close.
