Mince pies, selection boxes and cranberry sauce – Christmas just wouldn’t be the same without them.
But for hundreds of families in South Holland, these festive favourites are off the shopping list because they have very little money to make ends meet.
That’s why the Spalding Guardian has again teamed up with Agapecare Foodbank in Spalding to make Christmas special for people in need – and you can help us do it.
Volunteers from the foodbank, based at The Lighthouse Church in Haverfield Road, are asking people to buy an extra item for the needy in South Holland that they would have on their own Christmas table.
Foodbank volunteer Carol Mitchell said: “I helped with the appeal last Christmas and I’ll never forget people’s reactions when we took food parcels to them.
“They said there wouldn’t have been a Christmas for them without it.”
Donations can be left at foodbank centres in Spalding and The Market House, Market Street, Long Sutton, the Lincolnshire Free Press and Spalding Guardian offices in The Crescent, Spalding or collection points at Sainsbury’s, Holland Market, Spalding and Morrison’s, Wardentree Lane, Pinchbeck.
