Two thirds of children in Lincolnshire are being taught at schools rated as good or outstanding by Ofsted, a new report shows.

The news has been welcomed by education bosses, who have vowed to continue the good work to bring more schools up to top standard.

Successes were highlighted in a newly-published report by the chief inspector of education, children’s services and skills, which looked at how local education authorities across the country compared.

It showed that out of 350 county schools inspected by Ofsted up to August 2012, 53 were rated outstanding and 182 rated good.

At the lower end, 110 were found to be satisfactory and only five were inadequate.

Lincolnshire County Council executive councillor for children’s services Patricia Bradwell said: “This is a good endorsement of the range and quality of our schools in Lincolnshire, which is reflected year on year by examinations and exam results which outstrip national averages.

“We are proud of the high standards and mix of schools which cater for the needs of all our children and young people and continue to strive to bring the number of good or successful schools up still further.”
