A car mechanic was handed a 40-month ban after being found at the wheel with double the legal limit of alcohol in breath.
Mark Brown (31), of School Lane, Edenham, was stopped at about 2am on November 9 in Ash Close, Bourne.
It was his second offence within ten years and that automatically triggers a minimum three-year ban.
Brown can cut ten months off the disqualification if he completes a rehabilitation course.
He must also pay a £110 fine, prosecution costs of £40 and a £20 victim surcharge.
Spalding magistrates heard Brown has already lost his job as a car mechanic because he needs a driving licence to test cars.
Jim Clare, prosecuting, said police saw Brown’s white Ford Fiesta van and stopped it because there appeared to be a passenger who was not seated.
Brown smelled of intoxicants and admitted drinking about four pints before driving.
Solicitor Rachel Stevens, mitigating, said Brown became self-employed as a car mechanic at the beginning of the year.
He was out celebrating a friend’s birthday on the night he was stopped and only had himself to blame for choosing to drive.
Miss Stevens said Brown’s last drink-drive conviction was eight years ago.
