The people of Moulton Seas End are treated to a glorious sight each summer – thousands of delphiniums in flower, thanks to the biggest grower in the UK.
Father Nev and his son Matthew Naylor of K W Naylor & Son grow flowers, daffodils and potatoes from the same site that Nev’s father Ken started farming in 1948.
Prior to that, Matthew’s great grandfather, George, known as William, farmed in Carrington Road in Moulton Seas End.
Matthew’s grandmother, Mary Edgeley, has lived in the village since she and the late Daniel took over the shop and Post Office in 1965 and remembers hardly anyone had a telephone or a car then.
“There were always people walking about the village and now you look out of the window and don’t see a soul,” she said. “When we had the shop if anybody wanted anything or wanted to go anywhere they would come to the shop.”
Matthew’s mother Carolyn is treasurer of Spalding & Holbeach Macmillan Cancer Support, raising thousands for the charity from coffee mornings.
