A MAN who attacked his partner after getting drunk at a party has been jailed for 15 months.
Martin Whitehouse suddenly leaned over and bit his girlfriend Kharis Barber on the cheek during the party at her Long Sutton flat, Lincoln Crown Court heard.
Phil Howes, prosecuting, said Whitehouse then pushed her backwards and punched her in the face.
When his mother Barbara Whitehouse tried to intervene he pushed her away and then grabbed hold of her arm.
Martin Whitehouse was pulled off but then resumed the assault on his girlfriend.
He punched her and then threw a glass which smashed on her head causing blood to pour out.
Mr Howes said that another partygoer who attempted to stop the attack was also assaulted.
Whitehouse (29), of Lapwater Lane, Holbeach St Marks, admitted two charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and a further charge of common assault arising out of the incidents on the evening of October 15.
He was given a restraining order banning him from contacting Miss Barber for five years.
Liz Harte, defending, said Whitehouse had a problem with binge drinking and has since sought help.
“He is appalled that he has behaved in this way. He has already taken steps to get help as he realises he cannot always control himself.”
