A family is devastated after thieves broke into their late father’s home in Gosberton Risegate and stole items, including a classic Jaguar car.

Louise Chapman said her family was “terrified” after the burglary at her father, Sidney Chapman’s former home in the village some time between lunchtime last Saturday and Monday morning.

As well as a Jaguar 420G Mark 10 car, the thieves also stole a ride-on lawn mower, two multi-fuel mowers and a large tool box with tools that belonged to Mr Chapman (59) who died just two months ago.

Miss Chapman, who lives near Skegness, said: “My sister drives past the house every day to take her children to school and she noticed the door was open.

“Thieves broke into the house, ripped out the fuel burners and took other things, including the car that isn’t even driveable.

“We were trying to organise a sale of the house and it’s just like being hit by a freight train.

“We’re terrified now in case they come back for other things.”

Detective Constable Paul Smith of Spalding CID said: “The Jaguar was ready for spraying and could not have been driven from the scene.
“A large vehicle would have been required to assist with its removal.”
Anyone with information should call DC Smith on 101, quoting incident number 83 of December 17.
