A man made a “foolish error” to drive his car in Spalding when he was over the legal alcohol level limit, a court heard.
Giuseppe Tomeo (62), of Lincoln Road, Peterborough, was banned from driving for 40 months by Spalding magistrates on Thursday after pleading guilty to exceeding the legal limit when driving in the town centre on November 26.
Jim Clare, prosecuting, said police arrested Tomeo after a tip-off and a resulting breath test showed 59 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath when the legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
Daven Naghen, mitigating, said: “With the benefit of hindsight, Tomeo bitterly regrets what he did and sees it as being a foolish error.”
Tomeo was fined £650, told to pay costs of £85 and a £65 victim surcharge.
