Two qualified hairdressers from Poland who met renting chairs at a Spalding salon have just had a great month’s trading after setting up on their own in time for Christmas.
English-speaking Ursula Piestrak, who’s been in the UK for two years, and her friend Jolanta Didiul (resident for three years) opened Carmen Hair Salon in the former florist’s shop in Sheep Market at the start of December.
Charging from only £10 for style, cut and blowdry for women and £5 for a men’s haircut, they are attracting some English as well as east European customers.
Ursula said: “We’re open Monday to Saturday and on weekdays stay open until 7pm.
“It has been going very well and it’s good that our customers are of many nationalities, including English.”
Carmen Hair Salon will be the fourth Polish hairstyling business in Spalding.
