The devastated parents of two young girls who died after the car they were travelling in overturned on a Norfolk road just after Christmas have paid tribute to their “little angels.”
Sisters Tamzin (10) and Jessica Portor (7) from Sutton Bridge both suffered fatal head injuries after the black Ford Focus they were in left the A47 near Wisbech, rolled onto its side and ended up next to a drainage ditch last Thursday.
The sisters were taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, King’s Lynn, but died later that day.
Their brother Liam (12), father Alan (38) and his partner, Marie Easter (43), who were also in the car, all suffered minor injuries and were released from the same hospital last Friday.
In a joint statement, Mr Portor and the girls’ mother, Lorraine Mason, described them as “comical, lively and irreplaceable.”
They said: “Tamzin (pictured left) was a comical little girl, she was always happy and saw the funny side of things.
“She was a good student who helped out at school and loved helping people.
“Tamzin loved to sing with her friends and she would write her own lyrics.
“She loved to socialise and was a fun person to be around.”
The parents added that Tamzin was a fan of Doctor Who and online game Moshi Monsters.
Paying tribute to Jessica (pictured top), her parents said: “She was a lively girl who loved to dance and eat chocolate.
“She loved to wear make-up and going out.
“Jessica was also very comical and had bags of energy.
“She would bring alive any room she was in.”
The parents said both girls loved music, singing and their pet dogs.
They added: “The loss of our little angels can never be replaced and the whole family and friends are devastated.
“The family would like to thank all the well-wishers who have passed on their condolences.”
Friends of the girls have described their shock over the tragedy.
Jazmine Callaby (10), a friend of Tamzin’s from Westmere Community Primary School, Sutton Bridge, said: “We always used to sing songs together and dance.
“Tamzin was my best friend and I’m going to miss her.”
Jazmine’s mum Tracy Callaby said: “Tamzin aand Jessica were pretty girls who were always smiling.
“Tamzin was friendly to everyone and all the girls got on with her.
“The village is in shock over what’s happened.”
Tributes to the girls have also been posted on social media site Facebook, including one from Mrs Mason who called them “my gorgeous princesses”.
She said: “Love you babies, sleep peacefully.”
Mr Porter posted a message which said: “I love you Tamzin and Jessica with all my heart.”
Another message from Celly Thompson said: “So sorry to hear such sad news.
“Good night little angels, God bless.”
A message from Kirsty Mannion said: “Sweet dreams angels, taken way too soon.”
An inquest into the deaths was due to open in Norwich yesterday and police are investigating the accident which happened near the Broad End Road junction at Walsoken.
Chief Inspector Chris Spinks, Head of Norfolk Road Policing, said: “Fatal collisions are tragic in any circumstances but given the fact that two young lives have been lost at this time of year seems to make it that much worse.”
Anyone with information should call Sergeant Peter Howlett of Norfolk Police on 101.
