Leo Promotions, the team that got generations of South Holland youngsters loving roller skating, is celebrating its 25th anniversary.
Kevin Clow and Bev Chamberlain are still running popular roller disco sessions at Spalding’s Castle Sports Complex every Saturday night as they have since January 1988.
When DJ Kevin first set up his mobile roller disco at the sports centre he was spinning vinyl and the tunes he played ranged from catchy Abba through to Erasure’s Stop.
The technology has changed but the enthusiasm and professionalism of Kevin and his CRB-checked crew who teach and encourage young skaters is as great as ever.
A fortnight ago Leo Promotions launched new Friday night roller disco sessions at Peele Leisure Centre, Long Sutton, reserving the early evening from 6pm for families and beginners and moving on to the over 11s and more experienced skaters’ from 7.45pm- 9.30pm.
The families and beginners session at the Castle starts at 6.30pm and the teenagers’ session runs from 8.15pm- 10pm.
In between these commitments, Leo Promotions’ disco, which has 400 pairs of skates available for hire and state of the art sound and lights systems along with its own safety barriers, is available for private hire with and without the skating component.
Leo Promotions is confident of a bright future, looking forward to getting 3,000 scouts and guides on skates at the Poacher Jamboree this summer and its first-ever roller-disco wedding reception next year...
