Car owners in South Holland are being warned to take security measures after a spate of catalytic converter thefts in the area this week.

Four separate offences have taken place in Thurlby and West Deeping over the past five days, including three overnight on Tuesday.

Catalytic converters were stolen from 4x4s or pick-ups in The Causeway and Beck Way at Thurlby, as well as King Street, West Deeping.

These thefts came after another converter was stolen from a Mitsubishi pick-up, also in King Street, West Deeping, overnight on Monday.

Police are urging people to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activity around vehicles in these areas as soon as possible.

Sally Picker, Lincolnshire Police’s crime reduction officer, said: “This is a problem across the whole county and a huge amount of work is already being done to catch the criminals involved through Operation Brompton which tackles all metal theft.

“But I would urge owners of vehicles which have catalytic converters to get them security marked in a bid to reduce metal theft.”

Anyone with information should call Lincolnshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
