Holbeach residents have been assured a development plan for Holbeach will not mean they will be living on a rat run to the A17.
South Holland councillors were renewing an outline planning application by Stirling Mortimer that was originally approved in 2009.
If the plan went ahead it would see development on land off Battlefields Lane.
Resident Peter Ison addressed the planning committee on behalf of residents.
Mr Ison said: “Firstly I must protest at only being given three hours’ notice to prepare my comments. Furthermore, none of the residents appear to have been notified.
“But I will not be silenced. As before I object to any plan that would turn King Road from a quiet residential street to a through road from other parts of Holbeach to the A17.
“We also oppose any plan to take construction traffic through King Road.
“Drainage continues to be of much concern and we must place our trust in this committee to insist on adequate provision.”
Coun Roger Gambba-Jones apologised to Mr Ison for the oversight that led to the delay in him being contacted.
Planning manager Paul Jackson said there were no plans to use Kings Road as a through road and although standing water had been a problem on the land, any development of this scale would involve adequate drainage.
