Spalding firefighters were among the rescue crews involved in recovering a horse from the River Witham in Boston.
Despite being pulled from the river yeserday afternoon and treated by a combined force of team of police, fire and rescue and vets, the horse sadly did not survive.
The black and white mare belonged to the Redstone traveller site and is believed to have been more than 30 years old.
It was not giving birth at the time as originally thought.
Earlier in the day, local fire fighters were called to the chase in Crowland, where a fire in a spin dryer was caused by a short circuit. The fire was out on arrival.
