A man was overpaid £6,616.92 in income support when he failed to notify the Department for Work and Pensions that he was no longer living alone.
Robin Mitchell (58), of Dawsmere Bank, Dawsmere, pleaded guilty to two counts of failing to notify changes in his circumstances when he appeared at Spalding Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
He was conditionally discharged for a year and ordered to pay £100 costs.
The court heard he is repaying the sum.
Presiding magistrate John Reynolds told him: “You are of previous good character. You are extremely remorseful and being in court today is something you are not proud of we are sure.”
