Children in Holbeach held their own celebrations to mark the start of the Chinese new year.
Sunday ushered in the Year of the Snake, associated with cleverness and tenacity, and with fire. The larger Chinese astrological cycle associates this year with water so some say 2013 is the Year of the Water Snake.
William Stukeley pupils represented all 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac by dressing up in colourful costumes. Reception and year one pupils also helped make some traditional Chinese dishes and used chopsticks to eat them.
Holbeach Primary focused on the creature most associated with China, the dragon, and all classes took part.
Year five pupils had their own dragon team with eight pupils joining forces to create the head and the body of the mythical creature.
