South Holland Growers’ Club members have heard advice on reducing losses as a result of disease problems in flowering plants.
Dr Martin McPherson, science director at Stockbridge Technology Centre, and independent consultant Lyndon Mason spoke to the group about disease control and cut flower trials.
In trials, steam sterilisation was found to be the best treatment, alongside careful variety selection and good soil structure.
At other meetings, growers have heard about the traps and pitfalls of agricultural property relief and about the ageing population difficulties facing Delamore Young Plants.
