People across Lincolnshire are being warned not to fall for a cash for goods scam involving fake items.
The most popular scam sees offenders offering members of the public either a watch or gold ring in exchange for cash to buy petrol to get to either an airport or hospital.
Supermarket car parks, shopping arcades, petrol stations and lay-bys on major roads are among the locations recently targeted by suspected offenders offering goods that are fake and of no value.
Gill Finn, community safety officer for Lincolnshire Police, said: “Despite us giving out alerts on this current scam, we are still receiving numerous reports of these individuals targeting members of the public all across Lincolnshire.
“We really need details of registration numbers of the vehicles being used and descriptions of the offenders so we can trace them and stop this scam in its tracks.”
