Church leaders behind plans to launch Street Pastors in Spalding are making a final appeal to Christians across South Holland to back the scheme.
Hopes are high that enough volunteers will come forward to patrol Spalding town centre and offer help to vulnerable drinkers and party-goers in getting home at night time.
At least 60 people attended two information evenings at The Lighthouse Church in Haverfield Road last week for presentations about Street Pastors organised by a management team set up to run the scheme.
But it is now looking for firm commitments from church members in South Holland willing to sign up for the patrols and to act as Prayer Pastors for those volunteers who will be out in the town centre at night.
The final information evening is at The Lighthouse Church on Tuesday at 7.30pm and Pastor Chas Sandhu, part of the management team, said: “It’s vital for the success of this project that church members across South Holland support the evening.
“Let’s make a concerted, united effort with this worthwhile and much-needed demonstration of the love of Jesus Christ to our community.”
