During their visit to The Gambia, Jackie and Jacqui met up with someone who founded something called The GLOVE Project to establish sustainable enterprises and promote education in the country.
They had taken with them text books worth thousands of pounds, as well as other donations collected in school and given by family and friends.
The GLOVE Project founder introduced them to an international school where the books were very well received and where the Holbeach teachers felt a link with their school could make a difference. For instance, Jackie and Jacqui have agreed to find ways to get reference books out to the school’s library. They want to raise funds for a sponoser a child scheme and talked about teaching the teachers. Holbeach students will be raising funds for these projects and Jackie says they are hoping local businesses might want to help with transporting items – email jackie.hallett@universityacademyholbeach.org.
