A Holbeach firm is doing its bit to help the town look stunning by donating at least 100 roses for planting this spring.
Chris and Margaret Styles, owners of Style Roses in Meridian Walk, have contributed to the colourful look of Hallgate Cemetery, Holbeach War Memorial and other areas of the town with their donations of roses for several years.
The firm’s latest donation was announced at a parish council meeting last Monday and areas being considered for planting include the closed churchyard at All Saints Church and Carter’s Park.
Mr Styles said: “We’re a Holbeach-based company and we like to do our little bit for the town.
“There’s not enough being done in the parks and gardens, so we’re trying to inspire the people of Holbeach to plant roses because they are good value and last all the year round.
“This year, we’re looking at three planting schemes in the Holbeach area so we’ll probably be donating around 100-plus rose bulbs to the parish council.”
Coun Terry Harrington, parish council vice chairman, said: “Chris and Margaret have always been interested in Holbeach and the council has had a long-standing relationship with them.
“they have offered the council some more roses again this year and we’re working out how many we need for areas, including the closed churchyard and Carter’s Park.
“We appreciate all Chris and Margaret do and we’re very, very grateful to them for their contribution again this year.”
