Our campaign to raise £4,000 to buy a special family a walk-in bath for their two disabled sons is edging towards success.
With just a little way to go, we are hopeful we will soon be able to send Julia and Darren Smith shopping to buy the perfect bath to make their lives, and those of their sons Ben and Toby and daughter Molly, just a little bit easier.
As the boys, who suffer global development delay and cannot walk or talk, grow bigger Julia is finding it harder to lift them into the family’s normal bath at their home in Pennygate, Spalding.
This week the family met representatives of Spalding Lions, who have pledged their support and have enlisted the services of a plumber – who wishes to remain anonymous – to help the family achieve their dream bathroom.
Julia said: “He has been brilliant, helping us find the perfect bath which meets all of our needs and is at the right price.
“We have been shopping round because we do not want to waste the money that people have so generously donated, we want to get the very best value we can.
“It’s amazing how much support we have received. We are so grateful to everyone for what they have done so far.”
