UPDATE MONDAY 4PM: Things are back to normal at Spalding’s main swimming pool after a boiler problem led to it being closed for three days last week.
A fault in the boiler affecting the main pool at Castle Sports Complex in Albion Street was fixed by engineers on Friday and the pool reopened on Saturday morning.
Swimmers were forced to go elsewhere temporarily after the fault was first discovered on Tuesday evening, although both learner and diving pools stayed open despite the main pool being shut between Wednesday and Friday.
A spokeswoman for the sports centre said: “Parts for the boiler were received on Friday, the fault was fixed during the night and the main pool reopened at 7am on Saturday March 16.
“Everything is now back to normal.”
THURSDAY MARCH 14TH 7PM: Heating problems has led to the closure of Spalding’s main swimming pool and it is unlikely to reopen before Saturday.
A fault with the boiler serving the main pool at Castle Sports Complex in Albion Street was found on Tuesday evening and it has been closed ever since, although both learner and diving pool are still open.
A spokeswoman for the sports centre said: “The main pool at Castle Sports Complex has been closed since the evening of Tuesday March 12 due to a problem with the boiler.
“We are hoping to reopen the main pool by Saturday March 16, but the learner pool and the diving pool will remain open.
“We are working to fix the problem as quickly as possible and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
