An event is being planned aimed at improving integration between different nationalities living in South Holland.
The Connecting Communities event is being organised by Lincolnshire County Council, South Holland District Council and the EU Integration Centre CIC, based in Abbey Path, Spalding, and headed by Polish-born Diana Gajek.
Diana set up the community interest company in an attempt to help foreign nationals integrate into the community and already holds language classes and offers interpretation services to help those who struggle with English.
The event will be held on April 19 and will bring together different communities and encourage greater cohesion.
Representatives from adult and youth sporting and social groups will attend to show what their clubs have to offer with a view to recruiting new members from currently under-represented sections of the community.
It will also be a chance for the area’s European migrants to see what South Holland has to offer.
A spokesman said: “We want to celebrate the benefits of communities and as such would like to invite organisations to attend and connect with groups who may have previously been difficult to reach.”
The event at Springfields Event Centre, Spalding, starts at 6pm and slots are still available for groups wishing to give a short presentation.
