Sutton Bridge is to have three two-bedroom council homes built on land off Wright’s Lane.

South Holland District Council has embarked on a programme of building affordable homes on small sites across the district and, as we revealed recently, there are two more sites in the pipeline at Surfleet and Crowland.

The terraced houses at Sutton Bridge are designed for families of four and will go on the western side of Wright’s Lane on land that was formerly gardens linked to numbers 4, 6 and 8 Prince’s Street.

The homes will be built in partnership with Langwith Builders.

South Holland District Council’s planning committee granted permission on Wednesday night with councillors unanimously backing the application.

• The planning committee also granted the council’s planning application to create seven new parking spaces for council homes in Willders Garth, Holbeach.

The tarmac spaces will go on what is now a grassed area in front of 32 Willders Garth.

The council says more spaces are needed because more of its tenants now have cars and there’s limited space.

Coun Rita Rudkin told the planning committee she was in favour of more bays with safety as the main issue.
