CAMPAIGNERS battling to keep Spalding’s Chappell Centre open say they have won a victory but not the war.
Lincolnshire County Council yesterday (Tuesday) agreed to support existing staff, local groups or businesses to run 30 of its adult social care day centres, including the Chappell Centre in Pinchbeck Road.
Veteran campaigner Maurice Chappell said parents and carers will go on pressing the council’s executive member for adult social care, Coun Graham Marsh, to stick to his promise that the county will not pull the plug on The Chappell Centre “until something as good or better is in its place”.
Parents and carers wanted the county council to go on running the services because they say users are best served by the county council’s trained staff and now they face great uncertainty.
