The former leader of UKIP in Lincolnshire has been kicked out of the party following a disciplinary hearing in London today.

It is understood Chris Pain has been thrown out for conduct that ‘damages the interests of the party’.

Coun Pain was last week suspended amid a dispute with party chairman Steve Crowther. He was then ousted by a majority of UKIP members on the county council and formed a breakaway group with five other members under the banner of UKIP Lincolnshire.

It is not yet known how today’s news affects the breakaway group, which includes South Lincolnshire UKIP councillors Alan Jesson (Spalding South)and Richard Fairman (Spalding East and Moulton).

The news comes after police recently dropped their investigation into allegations that Coun Pain and Coun Jesson made ‘racist’ posts on Facebook.
