The Golden Arches could soon be soaring over Bourne as part of a new development.
A pub, petrol station and shop had already been given the go-ahead for a site close to the roundabout at the junction of the A15 and A151 – but the recognisable yellow M could also now be part of the site after McDonald’s submitted plans for a new restaurant.
South Kesteven district planners will consider the scheme, which McDonald’s says has come about following a thorough review of its portfolio of restaurants, which has led to a desire to increase its presence in key locations.
As a “freestanding” 96-seater restaurant, it is hoped the single-storey building, will employ up to 65 staff, half full time and half part time, and could open round the clock, seven days a week.
Apart from the management team, many of the staff will be recruited from the local area.
During each shift around 15 staff would be working.
The inside of the restaurant would be of a modern and airy design and there would also be a “patio” area for customers wishing to eat outside.
It would also boast a drive-through for those wishing to take their food away.
Car parking at the site is planned for 41 cars, including two disabled bays and two “grill” bays.
Bike racks would also be provided for bicycles and motorbikes.
The restaurant would be accessed via a road shared with the planned petrol station.
Residents can now comment on the plans on the South Kesteven District Council website. Comments will be considered by planners when they make a decision at a later date.
