TAXPAYERS living in Boston Borough will enjoy a freeze on the council’s portion of council tax for the forthcoming financial year.

Councillors voted to fix the rate at just 46p per day on average – no increase on the past two years.

Recommending the budget to Boston Borough Council last week, Coun Raymond Singleton-McGuire, joint deputy leader and portfolio holder for finance, said the council had managed to keep council tax at the same level, despite a cut in funding from the Government of £800,000. He said the budget was fit for purpose but prepared at a time of significant financial challenge.

Lincolnshire County Council has also agreed to keep its share of the council tax at the same level as this year.

Lincolnshire Police Authority has agreed a 3.96 per cent rise in its share, rejecting a one-off payment from the Government equal to three per cent in return for not increasing its precept.
