Fed up of buying the usual gifts for loved ones this Christmas? Then why not escape the madness of the High Street this festive season and discover something they’ll treasure forever with a visit to Glass by DnR in south Lincolnshire.
The thriving shop and open glass studio in Sutton Crosses, near Long Sutton, has a world of personal, bespoke, gift ideas for the whole family and has so much to offer and see, you could even make a day of it!
Visitors to the studio, based at the Silverwood Centre in St James Road, can choose from a variety of beautiful lamp work pieces, such as glass beads for charm bracelets and other pieces of jewellery including necklaces and earrings.
There is also a huge choice of stained glass artwork and suncatchers, using the traditional Tiffany copper foil technique, and stunning mosaic pieces such as mirrors, bird boxes, clocks and photo frames.
Business owner Duncan Barker-Magowan, who has been a glass artist for more than ten years, also undertakes commissions, for that special, one-of-a-kind gift, that’s completely tailored to your requirements.
But for those wanting to add a truly personal touch to their Christmas presents this year, Glass by DnR can even help you make a gift yourself, thanks to Duncan’s expert guidance and tuition.
“People can come down and make their own gifts from glass, so they are completely individual,” he said. “We’ll show you everything you need to know to make something that’s completely different.”
Younger children aren’t left out though, as they can get creative making wonderful gifts for grandparents and other relatives using mosaics.
They can also have a go at glass and ceramic painting, with a number of different pottery designs to choose from to paint.
Duncan said a number of other artists also display and sell their work at his shop, including two other lamp work artists and another who uses wire with lamp work beads.
