BURGLARS smashed their way into a bakery in Pinchbeck – and made off with nothing but a pile of cakes.
Holmelea Bakery owner Conrad Taylor said some of the half-eaten stolen treats were later found dumped further up the road.
He said no attempt had been made to take the till, which was just six feet away.
The bakery in Knight Street was targeted at about 12.30am on Saturday when someone threw a concrete coping stone through a window.
“Our neighbours said they heard an enormous bang, like a gun going off,” said Mr Taylor. “Someone has put a huge lump of concrete through the window and stolen a pile of cakes of different sorts.”
The bakery’s window has since been boarded up but is open as usual.
Anyone with information should call Spalding Police Station on 101.
