Interviews take place on Monday for a headteacher to take charge of a £3million primary school now being built on Spalding’s Wygate Park.

An executive head, Adrian Reed, who leads The Boston Witham Academies Foundation, has already been appointed and is “thrilled and honoured” to be given the job of opening a brand new school.

Wygate Park Academy will open in September with a staff of eight, including the on-site head and two teachers, and a reception class – it will gradually fill with pupils as reception classes are taken in year by year.

Mr Reed said: “From reception through to Year 6, pupils will become part of a supportive community which starts their journey of a lifetime. Every child will be provided with outstanding provision and care. We encourage children to believe that anything and everything is possible.”

At an information event in Spalding, parents had a virtual, on-screen tour of the new school, saw the uniform and learned how to register their children.

Lincolnshire County Council chose The Boston Witham Academies Foundation to run Wygate Park Academy.

The federation is made up of a children’s centre, a mixed 11-18 academy and two primary schools – both primary schools are in the top 50 in England for pupil progress. The federation took one failing primary school out of special measures to achieve an Ofsted outstanding.
