Farmers and landowners in South Holland are being urged to protect their quad bikes after a spate of thefts across Lincolnshire.
At least three thefts have been reported within the last month and police are advising quad bikes owners not to leave them in exposed or vulnerable places.
A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: “There are a range of security options that can be taken to reduce and prevent the opportunity for thieves such as leaving little fuel in the bike and locking away any additional fuel.
“Other options include securely locking the quad bike and use other means to disable its movement, locking the bike in an alarmed building, considered use of lighting, alarm systems and, where necessary, the use of monitored CCTV systems.”
Police also advise quad bike owners to use a vehicle tracking system so that stolen bikes can be recovered and thieves can be brought to justice.
