Police officers are using pedal power to patrol Spalding, thanks to the delivery of six new bicycles.
South Holland district councillor Gary Taylor paid for the bicycles with £2,000 of his designated member budget.
An official handover took place outside the police station in Westlode Street yesterday afternoon.
Coun Taylor said: “Although Spalding is a low-crime area, the public often tell me they would like to see more police patrolling the streets. This has been a fast way of of delivering what the public wants.”
Insp Chris Davison, of Spalding police, said: “I am delighted to accept the most generous provision of these all-purpose bikes for our officers. They enable us to be able to quickly reach all areas of the town, no matter what the traffic conditions.”
