Police have been visiting McDonald’s in South Holland to reassure staff after a new appeal for information on a terrifying raid at another branch was launched.
There had been concern CCTV images of a masked gang who threatened staff with a knife at a fast food restaurant in Glinton, Peterborough, just before Christmas might upset members of staff at branches in Long Sutton and Spalding.
Sgt Paul Coleman said: “Because this is only half an hour up the road, I have today tasked the team with visiting MacDonald’s both in Long Sutton and in Spalding to check their security systems are all up and running and to provide reassurance.
“There is no suggestion whatsoever that the masked gang would come here, but I am mindful that this may cause concern and am therefore looking to reduce the fear of crime.”
The gang of three men, all wearing balaclavas and two in distinctive camouflage onesies, forced their way into the McDonald’s branch in Lincoln Road, Glinton, after it had closed just before midnight on December 22 2013.
Once the gang had forced their way into the store, one of the raiders took out a knife and threatened staff before demanding money.
The intruders then fled with an amount of cash and got away in a car owned by a staff member, which was later found abandoned in old Lincoln Road, Glinton.
