A HOLBEACH man has been cleared of dangerous driving during a high speed police chase in which it was alleged he was at the wheel of a four-wheel drive vehicle.
Nathan Large (29), of St Matthews Close, Holbeach, had pleaded not guilty and the jury accepted his claims that it was not him driving the Land Rover Discovery which was at one stage reversed at a police car in Downham Market.
Norwich Crown Court was told that during that part of the chase a trailer being towed by the Land Rover jack-knifed into a wall. The jury was shown video evidence of that part of that incident.
The chase on April 8 last year began in Lynn Road, Swaffham, and finally ended in Emneth.
Mr Large was prosecuted after a man called Paul Masterson, from Sutton Bridge, who was in the vehicle told police that it had been driven by Mr Large during the chase.
Giving evidence to the court, Masterson denied he had set up Mr Large following an argument about a girl.
