AN 86.5m high wind turbine is planned for Long Sutton with the intention of serving Princes Foods.
Oxford company Susenco Management Ltd is seeking planning consent on behalf of The Little Sutton Energy Company to site the 500kw turbine with access tracks, an electricity switchroom and underground connections on farmland beside the A17.
The site is currently farmed by T and P Piccaver and will be accessed from Hundreds Lane.
The company submitted a previous application for two wind turbines measuring 120m to the tip, but that was withdrawn after residents raised concern about “noise and scale”.
According to information submitted to the planning authority, South Holland District Council, the company intends to hold public consultation meetings shortly.
The applicants say: “It was intended in the first planning application that the turbine will connect direct to the Princes Foods factory. This remains the intention but is subject to further discussion and agreement.”
The Little Sutton Energy Company says the turbine will generate a little over ten per cent of the Princes Foods factory’s energy needs – equal to powering 455 homes each year.
The applicants say: “The major local community of Long Sutton will have some views of the turbine. Some residential homes are close to the site and will have clear views of the wind turbine.”
