POLICE followed a motorcyclist riding at speeds up to 106mph on the A16 as he travelled from Spalding to Crowland, magistrates heard.
When they stopped him on March 25 they found he was over the drink-drive limit.
Stuart Nedley (32) told magistrates he didn’t normally drink, but had a pint of lager with his breakfast after finishing a night shift in Spalding.
Rebecca Ritson, prosecuting, said police in an unmarked vehicle were travelling in the opposite direction when they turned to follow Nedley. It took officers about eight miles – using blue lights – to get close.
He had 59 microgrammes of alcohol in breath – 24mcgs over the limit.
Nedley, of Ramridge Road, Luton, admitted driving with excess alcohol, speeding and driving without insurance.
Magistrates on Thursday ordered him to pay £935 in fines, costs and a victim surcharge – £500 was for the excess alcohol matter.
He was banned for 16 months for driving with excess alcohol, but can cut that by four months if he completes a rehabilitation course. He must also serve a concurrent ban for exceeding 12 points on his licence.
Nedley said he understood his top speed was 101mph and the police driver said he had to travel at an average of 80mph to catch up. He believed he had insurance at the time.
